Now offering sewing lessons for kids and teens!
Daryl Apparyl is excited to offer sewing lessons! As a former elementary school teacher, I believe in the power of creativity coupled with the learning experience. Not only will students explore a new skill through project-based learning, but they’ll practice patience, self-expression, and confidence.
I love working with students of all ages, though I recommend kids under 7 years old begin with hand sewing as their fine motor skills develop before trying a sewing machine. My lessons are available to students in the Phoenix area and range from 1-3 hours depending on the project. Students may propose a project idea (such as designing and making their own halloween costume for example), or choose from the following lessons:
Introduction to Sewing- learn parts of the machine, how to wind and insert a bobbin, practice basic stitching and maintaining an even seam allowance.
Tote Bag
Face Mask
Boot Wings
Pajama Pants
Leggings and bike shorts (Intro to Jersey/Stretch fabric)
Circle Skirt
Design and make your own Lucha Mask
Swim suit
Lesson Rates:
Private 1-on-1 lessons: $50/hr
Small Group lessons (2-3 students): $35/hr per student
Private lessons are available any day and time including weekends to best accommodate your schedule. Each student must have their own sewing machine for the lesson (ask about renting one from me if you don’t have one!) Let’s talk about your goals and project ideas and book a session today! I can be reached via email at DarylApparyl@gmail.com, my contact page, or through Facebook Messenger.
